The Chapel Hairdressers - Tunbridge Wells

I liked Pietro; he is a kind man with a good energy. That said, I am incredibly, incredibly disappointed with my haircut, and will not be returning. I told Pietro in no uncertain terms - and with reference images - what I wanted. A one to two-inch trim for a bouncy, shoulder-length style with long layers (long is something I reiterated on multiple occasions), that I could style in multiple ways (straight or blow-dried) for my return to work after maternity leave. I trusted him, and he promised to ease me in while giving me the slight restyle I required. Instead, he’s essentially cut a bob into my hair, with a long layer beneath it, and taken about four inches off the length. It looks bad and I’ve been left with a style that I hate. It looked ok when I left the chapel, but on closer inspection it’s not a haircut that I like, and looks genuinely awful when I try to style it myself. At a time when I want to feel confident in my appearance, and ready for work, I feel self-conscious and with a haircut that feels at odds with my style. I wish Pietro would have listened better, and not delivered a haircut that is his style, rather than my own.

I always enjoy my hair experience at the chapel . Beckie is amazing at coloring my hair and Pietro washed, cut and styled my hair to perfection…. I am beyond happy with the treatment and service … amazing 🤩

This review will sound somewhat cringey but very much the truth so bear with me.
Every visit to the Chapel, TW - specifically my friend Pietro, is more than just a haircut — it’s like catching up with an old friend over strong espresso, as dark as oil that usually puts extra hairs on my chest. The cut is always sharp, and spot-on, but what really sets it apart is the atmosphere. We always end up deep in conversation — life, food, sports, stories from Sicily — it’s part barbershop, part therapy, part espresso bar, part Sicily… There’s a real sense of pride in the work, and you feel it from the moment you walk in. Always leave looking good and feeling even better. Couldn’t recommend him enough. Thanks, mate.

Callum was friendly and professional as always. He checked with me if my hair had been ok since the previous cut and colour and if there was anything I wanted to change this time. I decided to stay with exactly the same colour and style as I'd had previously.
The head massage is a lovely relaxing touch when having hair washed.
I was offered hot and cold drinks and canapes.
I'm very happy with the service and will be returning again, I have booked my appointments for the rest of 2025.

Scott has been my hairdresser for over 10+ years now . He knows me, and what my hair will and wont do ! It’s always a delight to see him, his enthusiasm, professionalism and hairdressing skills are second to none. He’s a fantastic stylist and always gives a very honest opinion. I thoroughly enjoy our chats and his total dedication and perfection to his work. He gives the most amazing head massages ! After every visit to The Chapel I leave reenergised and without a hair out of place. Thank you Scott.

Ian always does such a great job of my colour - I often get compliments. Just enough to give it a lift but still looks natural. Very skilled. Always enjoy my visits to The Chapel and have absolute faith in Ian.

This is the second hair appointment I have had with Callum. He made me feel at ease straight away and cut my hair to the desired length I was looking for. He double checked with me before cutting that I was happy to have quite a few inches taken off of the length. I am very pleased and will be using his services for the foreseeable future.

As always - made to feel welcome & special! Rhys always listens carefully to what I want, makes suggestions & gives advice when asked. I always leave feeling happy about the outcome. As for the other staff I encountered yesterday (&previously) - pleasant, friendly, welcoming & warm. Whether it’s good training or selective interviewing the staff are a credit to the salon. Well done all!

Well, I must say every time I come to have haircut, Rhys always makes me relax and I can leave it to him to cut away . He always does an excellent job and I going away feeling happy. Also gives gives could advice on your product which was very helpful. 😀

Callum is a nice friendly guy. I enjoyed his conversation regarding his experience in given advice on colouring and recommendations on hair maintenance.

My hair was cut yesterday. A complete reshape. So far I am very happy with it, but it’ll take a while before I will know if I am pleased with as it needs to settle down. We’ll see how it performs after it is washed and it’s natural curl falls into place. Many thanks James for being a really good listener. This was my first visit to Pietro and he calmly talked me through my dry damaged thatch that I presented to him. He talked me through the do’s and do T’s which I thought I should have known and then performed a miracle transformation. I cannot thank you enough Pietro 🙏

Following a spell of illness I was dleighted to get an appointment with Ian at short notice. I walked in not too dissimilar to a scarecrow and walked sout so very smart. Thank yoiu so much for the transition. And as always a visit to the Chapel in itself is a great experience, such friendly and professional staff.

Have been going to Ian for many years now. He is always attentive and helpful and an excellent stylist .

Alex took lots of time to discuss my hair colour concerns and gave lots of advice on generally protecting and maintaining the colour between appointments. I purchased a heat protection spray and deep conditioning mask treatment. Alex managed to fit in a trim and I left feeling rejuvenated!! Alex was very helpful with suggesting my next appointment to work with a special event.

Clare was amazing. She gave me a super haircut and I left feeling years younger. She’s also an inspiring young woman and I loved spending an hour with her.

Warm welcome by Symon who asks what I want colour wise and whether it’s possible! He is very honest and as always the colour excellent. Then had a cut with James who also discussed what is suitable for my hair type. His shampooing was so relaxing and the cut and blow dry were perfect. Really enjoyed my visit and Symon and James work so well together. The visit lifted my well being.

I’ve been coming to Rhys for years and always enjoy the experience. I’m not happy with the regular price increases and feel that it is too expensive but stay loyal to Rhys as he cuts my hair so well.

Rhys is a professional, skilful top class stylist He makes sure that I am happy with the finished cut. Alex’s warm welcome also makes you feel immediately at home.

This was my first appointment with the chapel and it was genuinely such a fun, relaxed experience!

From the moment I arrived, I wasn’t rushed into my appointment, the girls offered me drinks, welcomed me in with so much love and customer care!!

I even had time to sit down and discuss my haircut with Pietro -which was absolutely fantastic. He took the time to listen to what I was aiming for, and 100% understood my vision. He is charming, funny, and obviously knows AND LOVES what he does! 10/10!
