Kate is such a brilliant hair stylist. She is the first person who has really got the measure of my thick and somewhat unruly hair! I always leave the salon with a great cut and finish. She keeps me young! I love my appointments as everyone one is just lovely. Juniors and reception staff are delightful. I have been with Kate and the salon for about 7 years. Highly recommend everyone and everything.

Essentials Birmingham is a great salon staffed by professional and very friendly staff who listen carefully to what cut or colour you want and suggest options if you're unsure or what a change. Completely without pretension (not something that can be said of many salons) Vicky and Sally run the show and I a very proud to say I have been a client since I first came to Birmingham fifteen years ago.

I had my hair cut today at the mailbox.
I was greeted by the front desk who were so friendly and welcoming.
Sally then sat me down and chatted to me about my options and really listened.
My hair was washed and the best head massage followed .... wow. I nearly fell asleep.
Sally then cut my hair and was really nice throughout.
Toni and Guy along with Sally and her team are the best salon I have ever been to.
I booked up my next appointment there and then.
Cannot recommend enough.
I left there feeling a million dollars.

The new salon is conveniently located next to the Harvey Nichols store in the mail box.
I have visited the salon on numerous occasions and always found the staff friendly, welcoming and approachable. We are offered drinks whilst waiting in the salon, and head massages / special treatments at the basin to ensure a relaxing visit. My hairstyle last for several days after a visit.
The staff are highly trained and experienced led Vickie and Sally who offer precision cutting and styling. The staff are aware of the latest trends in terms of style and colour. They will happily look at a photo of the style you have in mind and if you are uncertain they will indicate whether it will suit your face shape or even offer suggestion of the style or colour that would look great. The team always seem to have the latest treatments / products on offer before other salons.
They are adept with children's hairstyling and the kids love coming in to the salon! In fact they ask to go .
First time salon customer. Had a lovely hair treatment followed by a restyle by the hairdresser. Excellent cut, massage chairs , beverage offering and lots of magazines!
Need I say more? Technically great and lovely fun people too.
Vicki cut my hair and she's great, bright and funny and brilliant at her job, it was a real pleasure

I have been getting my hair cut with Kate for at least 4 years now and she always gets my hair looking amazing. I do not trust anyone else with my hair, as she understands exactly what I have in mind each time I visit, and gives great suggestions of what would work. I really recommend booking in with her.

I have been coming to the salon since it opened and before that Toni and Guy in Birmingham city centre. What makes me come back for my cut and colour is the Manager Vickie and in particular her colourists there. I also take my daughter to the salon and we are genuinely treated like family. Always great service but Vickie also listens to feedback.

Kate and all of the staff always makes the girls so welcome, she even let the little one help her and kept her occupied the whole time so that I could enjoy my appointment too.

I have been here before, was charged okay and treatment was good. But this time was told will be around £85 and was charged £128 for highlights. A treatment called Olaplex 15 was done without asking me and was charge £30 for it. Like seriously. This is way too much. Wasn't happy with the staff as well. Not at all courteous enough! This isn't the service ppl look for.
As someone who has never had a hair colour before, I wanted to have a subtle half head highlights or balayage , just a few shades lighter than my real hair colour. Ended up getting a full head highlights, and since Ive never done this before I didn't realise what happened until a good few hours, the colour kept getting lighter after I left the salon and is definitely not what I wanted. Very disappointed, I don't even trust the salon to try and fix it

Everything is perfect in the salon. I am always greeted by smiling and friendly reception staff, Sammy is a joy to speak to and the cut and colour is always exceptional. I am a longstanding client and I would never go anywhere else. Whilst they know me they never assume I want the same look and Sally and her team of technicians always work hard to make me look great when I leave. They are real artists and understand customer service. I always come out feeling transformed and uplifted. Can't recommend highly enough! Can you tell I love it there?

Vickie always head her work cut out when cutting my barnet as it resembles a small shrub when I havn't been seen to for a while. She works her magic every time though and always does a amazing job. A very skilful and lovely person.

The last few times I have visited this salon ( I have been a client for over 10 years) I have left wondering if I should try somewhere else. To start, I was asked at reception if I wanted a drink. I waited and waited until I was asked by my hair technician 15 mins later. All very embarrassing as no communication between staff I think. My colourist was efficient with my colour but maybe too much bordering on slapdash. I had colour that should have been wiped away from around by hairline and The washing out of the colour was rushed. The proof of that is although the colour is good I was annoyed to see traces of it on the collar of my work shirt when I undressed for bed! Generally disappointed with my experience.
