Hi I’m James mum and would normally accompany him as he’s a very anxious young man who has autism. I would just like to say a big thank you to his stylist and staff. I picked him up and not only does he love his hair style he also mentioned how nice the stylist was. It’s the first time he’s gone alone and the staff made him feel welcome & relaxed. He’s looking forward to coming again & is very happy with his hair, which may seem the usual comment but for my son to feel that way is very rare. So I’d like to say a big thank you and we look forward to visiting again soon.

First time visiting Sands and I was made to feel very comfortable and at ease. The girl who washed my hair was so nice and chatty and then Nicola who cut my hair gave me good advice and really listened to me and was so nice. For the first time I've ever seen in a salon was a card at the station which read that if you don't fancy chatting then they understand and that in fact made me want to chat. I had the option of either chatting or having a quiet cut. Great idea.

Very relaxing atmosphere. Kaye has recently taken over cutting my hair as you can imagine I was a little worried as you get use to a hairdresser. No need to worry Kaye was fab and my hair was styled just how I like it.

As always, extremely happy with my hair colour today, and apart from the infinitely better colour product used in terms of it being more natural, kinder to the skin and not tested on animals, the colour leaves my hair feeling soft, moisturised, and has tones which look perfectly natural. Also, I donso appreciate the friendly and most professional staff, and the coffee, the magazines, general feeling of being looked after and such a great sense calm at the Aveda salon, Sands. Always such a welcome treat to go there.

Whilst Stuart is fantastic, i have noticed Sands price’s have creep up

First time at Sands today and had a great experience with all staff, Kaye and Ian in particular. Welcoming, relaxed salon and efficient service. Really pleased with my cut and colour. Best of all vegan and cruelty free. Would highly recommend.

Great visit to Sands for a cut and finish. Very efficient and friendly team. I was made to feel welcome by all, from the lovely coffee made by Liv, the hair wash (sorry I can’t remember her name!) and the cut and finish by Nicola. They even made sure my 5 year old son was happy during our visit, the biscuits and wrestling chat definitely won him over! Fab hair cut by Nicola, very pleased with finished result. My hair now feels a million times better than before. I also had a wedding party that evening, and the curls stayed in perfectly! Thank you again! Would definitely recommend and will be returning :)

Always such a pleasure to go to this salon. All the staff are so friendly & only want their clients to have the best experience. Special mention to a young lady called Kimi who gave the best hair massage during my treatment!!

Sands staff went out of their way to accommodate me when I had failed to rebook after my last appointment. Initially I was placed on a waiting list, but after jiggling appointments they were able to fit me in. Great team work also ensured that I was able to leave on time. Super haircut and super service. . Thank you to Ceri, Stuart and Liv. ?

I've been visiting the Salon since it opened and have always been extremely well looked after. Deb did an amazing job with my hair today. The colour and cut look great. It was lovely seeing everybody especially Stu. See you all next month.

All the staff at this Salon are super professional, have excellent training and make the customer feel so well looked after. I have been going for about 6 years and have not ever had a bad experience here.

Great service from my favourite hair stylist

I was very pleased with my haircut. However my hairdresser spent the appointment talking about how they ‘wished other clients were as easy and going as me’ and even considered videoing their appointment with me as an ‘example’ of how not to ‘be difficult’. When I challenged them, they confirmed that this statement was ‘just a joke’ and that they had a ‘daft sense of humour’. Nonetheless, I found it startling and unprofessional. They also mentioned to me that they ‘weren’t like the other hairdressers’ at the salon. That they ‘wouldn’t start selling product to people with no need’. This was an uninvited comment. I think meant to reassure me that they were trustworthy? However I felt it was simply inappropriate. Not only to disrespect their colleagues and the business in that way, but also to be casually doing so to their client. I don’t think there is anything wrong about hair care specialists recommending high quality products to their clients. I remained amenable throughout the appointment but I was disappointed and waiting for my appointment to be over ASAP. My experience with that stylist did not match the professionalism that I experience in booking and on entering the salon. I also noted that every other client had tea or coffee offered to them, and I did not.

They mentioned to me that they had a 1:1 meeting coming up (again, not professional to share with a client at all, it made me feel uncomfortable). And whilst I do not want them to lose their job, I do think that someone else could be incredibly hurt or put off by their comments. I did not cause a scene, but leaving an honest review is important to me.

I have kept names out of this for both my privacy and also for the hairdresser’s. I do not doubt that the salon will be able to identify which of their staff I am referring to.

Absolutely fantastic cut and finish from Nicola today . She was so friendly and made me feel very relaxed and pampered. I came out feeling wonderful . Thanks so much . I will definitely be asking for her next time.

Great haircut by Stuart. He was very friendly and honest about what would work with my hair and styled very naturally it the way I wanted without too much product. Salon was very well organised and covid secure so a really positive experience all round
