Absolutely brilliant colour & cuts received from Kate, as always! I first went to Kate whilst at Uni over 20 years ago. Having remembered how talented she was I now travel up from the south for her expert advice and colouring.

There is a fantastic and friendly atmosphere in the salon and it’s always an enjoyable experience.

I really like how Kate goes over and above to achieve tailored results and, how everyone genuinely works together as a team. This is testament to how many of the original members are still there.

As a bonus, there is Sydney in residence, delicious coffee and luxury massage chairs too!

Another fantastic colour, great result, bleach well managed. Always a pleasure. Dropped a star for value because nothing's cheap these days, but then you pay for quality.

Hair cut and therapy session were fantastic.

Andrew has been cutting my hair for 26 years. A true artist with hair-I trust him totally. The whole team are warm but professional and importantly, take their their time with clients.

I had the full pamper experience! My consultation was with both Craig and Destiny who listened and advised to on how best to get the results I wanted to achieve. I was so happy how my hair turned out. Andrew cut it so well. Lots of interesting conversations and it was lovely meeting Sydney the salon dog who is just beautiful!

I have been going to Sutherland and Barnett for a while now. I couldn’t book in with my usual stylist. Instead Charlotte cut and coloured my. Really a brilliant cut and colour.

Kate has been cutting my hair for almost 20 years now coping fabulously with my various different whims.

Short, long, blonde, brunette, flashes of colour or my greyer locks now.. Kate always delivers divine hairdos but in a way that complements me, not only aesthetically, but me as a person. You can discuss ideas and that great hairdo you were after, but ensure that the version of it you get will suit *you* and is realistic to maintain.

Kate’s ability to colour hair is second to none: for many years I had a glossy deep brown that she mixed with a squirt of red and blue (!), giving it a wonderful deep shine and quite literally had people stop to ask about it; my hair now is mostly grey and she has done a fantastic job of blending through cool and warm blondes - no toner, under half a head of highlights, and my hair looks divinely, naturally blonde.

My hair is fine but if you have thick hair, fear not - she cuts my best friend’s hair (the thickest hair known to man) just as beautifully. (Highlights it too which deserves an award as it takes about half a day!).

On top of all that, not only are you getting an extraordinary stylist and colourist, you’re getting a thoroughly lovely human. Funny, approachable and caring, and again, tailored to you - if it is your only hour of the week you get to yourself, basking in silence is very much respected; if you like to have a natter and put some of the world to rights, that’s equally comfortable.

I moved up to the North East 5 years ago - tried other salons and stylists and they didn’t even come close. I decided I’d rather travel the 5-hour round journey and have it done less often. Even yesterday, when that journey turned into 9 hours (crazy traffic and a stationary 11 mile tailback on the M1), I sat there in a 26 degree car with broken air con, beaming at my new hair, feeling like a million dollars and looking forward to my next visit.

Give Sutherland and Barnett a try, get booked in with Kate and you will not regret it!
