The tired old hag with limp hair walked into Brooklands salon one Friday afternoon, and there waiting for her was the Prince Charmjng of the Scissors. Two and a half hours later the witch had been transformed into a glamorous princess. Brookland Salon is totally different from Oxley Park where I normally go for my hair, but the day and time suited me better. Oxley is small and cosy, whereas Brooklands is much larger and more industrial but that is where the differences end; when you arrive the warm welcome from caring and professional staff makes you feel more of a friend than a client . The salon is clean, airy and bright with staff that listen to what YOU want rather than tell you what they are going to do. No, Golson's is not cheap but like anything you pay that bit extra for, the care and attention you receive is worth it, and honestly Luke, it's not just the hot chocolate and Smarties that I keep coming back for😆. If you want to feel like a queen, Golsons is the place to go, if it wasn't, I wouldn't still be returning 8 years after my first cut. Team Golson (both salons) YOU ROCK. X

Yesterday I had a hair appointment for a restyle from long to short hair, highlights, and a blow dry. I visited the salon in person prior to my appointment to discuss the desired colour technique and confirm the price, which was quoted at approximately £185 for the services I described. I paid a £70 deposit at this time.
During my appointment yesterday, the stylist suggested a balayage instead of highlights, stating it would look better with my new haircut. I was open to her professional opinion and agreed, assuming the price would remain close to the original quote. Unfortunately, the stylist did not mention any additional cost for the balayage.
Upon checkout, I was shocked to discover that the total cost, including my deposit, was £270 (£200 + £70 deposit). This was significantly more than the initially quoted £185 and considerably more than I paid for similar services when my hair was long. Had I been informed that the balayage would be an additional £100, I would have opted for the highlights as originally planned.
I understand that sometimes adjustments are needed, but I believe it's crucial for stylists to communicate any price changes before proceeding with the service. I felt uncomfortable discussing the discrepancy in the salon with other clients present, so I paid the full amount.
While I am generally happy with the haircut itself, the unexpected price increase and lack of communication regarding the additional cost left me feeling disappointed. I would recommend Golson improve its consultation process to ensure clients are fully aware of all costs involved before any changes are made to the original service plan. This experience has made me hesitant to return in the future

Luke worked his magic on my miserable thin and straggly hair again today, after a year of it being untouched by expert hands, and I feel so much better both aesthetically and mentally! Yet again I entered the warm, happy and friendly atmosphere feeling like a haggard old witch left over from Halloween and left feeling like the belle of the ball. Luke and the lovely Laura managed to swap my appointment for me after I'd double booked, knowing how busy both salons are, I was expecting a sorry but can't help, but they managed to book me for which I am extremely grateful. The salon is always clean and all the staff work as a team, and although it is Luke who is my usual stylist I would be happy with any of the stylists, I have seen them work and how happy their clients are when they leave. In the words of an icon, the entire Golson team are Simply the Best.
