Having moved quite recently I had yet to find the right hair stylist. Checking reviews I booked Dan at John Charles Bury St Edmunds. Right from the first phone call to leaving the salon I was really impressed by the whole experience. Dan’s questions regarding my hair really impressed me and I am delighted with my cut and blow dry. First time customers receive a free wash and blow dry by their preferred stylist following the first appointment and between appointments, free fringe cuts. I can unreservedly recommend this salon, which has a professional, relaxed and happy atmosphere.

We moved relatively recently to Bury St Edmunds and I was still looking for a hair stylist that I had confidence in. Having read excellent reviews for John Michael I made an appointment with Dan. From the friendly and warm welcome until I left the whole experience was superb. Dan asked questions about my hair, what products I used and any problems. I was really impressed. He cut my hair so well and took his time to make sure I was happy with it. I will definitely be returning to Dan and, as I was a new customer, I was offered a wash and blow dry free of charge where I could comment on my first cut and if there were any problems. I was also offered a free fringe cut between cuts. All in all it was a great experience and from the ambience it is obviously a very happy salon.

I always look forward to having my hair done, Holly makes me feel comfortable and relaxed, a lovely salon very friendly staff, and great coffee.

This was my first visit to the salon following a recommendation from my sister, who has been using the salon for years. Dan spent quite a while chatting to me, asking question to understand my hair concerns and what I wanted to achieve. Very happy with the end result and great advice on aftercare. I’ll be rebooking for sure!

Emily is great stylist friendly brilliant wiv my autistic son which he'd go every day if he could although he doesn't give eye contact and speaks very little he never shuts up about her wen we leave his first thing he says wen we going again. Overall Emily is great and I would highly recommend her to anyone x

I was booked in with my usual stylist, Emily, for a cut and blow dry, t-section highlights and Olaplex treatment. I came in feeling tired and dowdy and left feeling a million dollars, with my refreshed hair swinging and shining!

Delighted as always. Covid safe, friendly professional and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this salon .

When I started going to Holly she got to know exactly what I wanted, she really listened to me.

I was very pleased with Lauren’s work, also the lady who washed my hair and the trainee who helped with the foils. All three were friendly and made it a pleasant experience.

I went to Lucy with terrible regrowth that hadn't been dealt with for around 9 weeks. I honestly thought it was unfixable. Lucy did an amazing job and brought my hair up to a really nice blonde. She was so lovely and definitely the best hairdresser I've been to. Will be going back

The door was held open and i was offered a coffee which is good and all staff were polite and friendly. The hairdresser gave ne helpful tips on caring for my hair which was helpful but needs to imorovr listening skills. I had said i wantba tapered cut withe choppy layers, she said thus wasnt pissible because i don't hsve enough hair which made me feel she just wasn't experienced enough to do it. I responded that i guess sd i have no choice since it isnt possible, We then agreed she would trim the ends of the hair so I said the words "I hate straight cuts" she asked why and I replied I have just never liked how they looked. She then did a dead straight cut which looks horrible and wasnt what I wanted. It cost £50 for a wash, a basic straight cut at one length which was the fastest part of the service and a few squirts of a hair treatment.. Then a blow dry. Although the treatment helped my hair condition which is good, there was no distingushing between the difference of a £5 or £10 squirt of something in my hair. It felt like i paid to spend most of the hour with the staff member telling me i couldn't have the hair style I wanted which was simply a tapered long bob so that she could do the most basic straight cut and close the salon to go home. I also didn't get my hair completed because I was told the person who has hair clippers had gone home, despite telling the salon owner when I booked in that I hadan undercut that needed tidying up in the appointment. For these reasons I feel it was not good value for money.

My 9 year old daughter and I visited for the first time today. The whole experience was excellent and for her first ever hair cut, my daughter really enjoyed it! Emily was friendly, gentle on my daughters knots and we were both delighted with our hair cuts! Will definitely be going back! Thank you.
