I am so pleased to be back at Saks and to have Ashley cut my hair again after 25yrs!!!!
It has been the best decision I have made in a long time. It felt like coming home. I was made very welcome and was put at ease as soon as I walked through the door.

For years I wished to have a beautiful hairstyle. The kind of style that looks effortless, feels great and conjures confidence. Several salon experiences in the past had resulted in me looking after my own hair… I knew I was ready to seek a professional!

I needed to improve the natural condition of my hair. Of White/Afro-Caribbean heritage, my curls were craving hydration. An online search of Kerastase salons brought me to Saks York. A beautiful upstairs salon with thoughtful interior design, in a desirable area of the city. And the rest rooms… yes! Ten out of ten for first impressions.

I am so pleased to be guided by Ashley’s professional expertise. This is the only time that I have felt truly happy with a salon’s treatment of my hair. The appointment began with a deep conditioning treatment. In those 20 or so minutes, I enjoyed mooching around the salon. Some fun artworks, a groovy bar and an amazing selection of Kerastase products to choose from. My ‘hair therapy’ journey is likely to take about 12 months, so back-to-basics for months 1-3, with a mix-and-match selection of deep nourishing shampoo, conditioner, mask and hair oil.

Next, I’m in the styling chair. Delighted with the trust and rapport established by Ashley, I have at last found the perfect salon for me.

The whole team create a gorgeous vibe, from the welcome drinks to the relaxing happy house Friday soundtrack. I’m back in 6 weeks or so for my roots with Darcy, then with Ashley again for style maintenance and next level deep conditioning.

I was very happy with my visit to Saks. I was seen promptly, and Jess took pains to understand exactly what I wanted. I liked the result, and will be back. The only downside was the uneven floor at the top of the stairs, which gave me a scary moment...

I have been going to Ashley at Saks in York for 32 years. It is always such a lovely experience. Ashley makes you feel so special.

I can’t recommend this salon highly enough. Ashley is a brilliant stylist who really listens to what I want and always delivers a cut that suits me perfectly - he has a great eye for shape and takes the time to get every detail right. Darcy is equally talented as a colorist, creating exactly the tone and finish I’m after while keeping my hair healthy and glossy. Together they make a fantastic team, and I always leave feeling confident and looking my best. Highly recommend booking with Ashley and Darcy if you want a salon experience that combines skill, care, and genuinely lovely results.

Second visit for highlights and a trim, both Jess (colourist) and Ash (super stylist) listened to my ideas and worked with them to produce just what I wanted, Saks has a great atmosphere AND I got an iced coffee or two during my appointment

Second haircut with Ashley and the best I’ve had in years. I couldn’t be happier. Ashley is clearly a very skilled and experienced hairdresser, but more than that, he really takes the time to understand what you want and how your hair behaves.

Emma is thorough, careful and sensitive. She is skilled and a pleasure to be with. I enjoy discussing aerospace engineering with her.

The result was lovely. The colour is very natural and kind to your hair. The cut was good and I got the naturally wavy/curly result that I wanted. The shampooing and head massage were also very good.Lovely atmosphere with nice magazines.

I love this salon and all the Staff that I know who work within. My work has me travel about a lot and it’s one of the best salons I’ve been to. I first stepped inside in 2010 and came back in 2020 and am pleased to be back now. I am very well looked after and the Team are incredibly talented. The music play list is always a winner too!

A big, airy salon. I was met straight away by someone from the Salon - closely followed by Darcie who was to give me a keratin treatment. She took a lot of care and produced great results.

Darcy as ever brilliant and listens to what you want. I’ve never had a hairdresser I have felt so confident in. Rinsing my colour was the lovely girl with red hair - just a bit of feedback - slow down your rinsing of colour - some landed on my face and has stained it. I’m not bothered as foundation covers all but some might not be as tolerant and I appreciate she is learning and her customer care was excellent - telling me what she was going to do next. A small thing that didn’t spoil my experience x

The staff are all lovely and attentive. Make you feel at ease from the moment you arrive. Robin does a fabulous job with my hair.

Yet again Ashley not only cuts my hair but understands what I need to increase my confidence. Hair matters!

Today was my first appointment with Ashley, what a lovely person, he sat and chatted with me about my hair, what I expected and gave me advice regarding what could be achieved today (as I have shortish hair) He listened to me and didn't push his ideas, he explained and checked with me throughout my cut so I felt safe to point out areas of my hair that bugged me and he addressed the problem. My whole appointment at Sacs was great, all the staff are very friendly and helpful and I ended up with just what I wanted, I am looking forward to my next visit
