My hair extensions came and they sent the wrong shade of blonde by accident I think, edita spent 5 hours in intervals perfecting it for me so my hair was the colour I wanted and I love it so much. She’s always so lovely! Thankyou

A really disappointing visit with my daughter for her start of the school year hairstyle, which she had been so exited about. During the consultation my daughter (who is perfectly capable of speaking for herself) was clear and articulate about her objectives for her haircut and asked the stylist’s advice on a few points. Rather than engaging with my daughter and answering her questions, the stylist was incredibly condescending to her, repeatedly telling her that she was ‘just 10’ in response to her ideas and even calling one of them silly. She also made it clear to my daughter that she didn’t have the time for the discussion and told her that she only had fifteen minutes (which we were already aware of and was perfectly fine) and that she needed to get on with it, which left my daughter feeling very anxious that the haircut would be rushed and not done properly. When giving advice to my daughter at the end about washing hair after swimming the stylist also told her that her hair was ‘claggy’ even after being washed in the salon and that the ends would ‘rot’ if not cared for properly- this left my daughter feeling very worried and upset. The actual haircut was decent however, the condescending treatment turned what is supposed to be an exciting experience preparing for a new school year into damage limitation as I had to spend the rest of the day explaining that some adults choose to treat children in a way that they would never with an adult. Indeed if I had been in the chair and had a stylist speak to me in that manner I would have promptly left and the only reason that I allowed the appointment to continue is that I didn’t want my daughter to be even more upset at having to miss her school haircut. We previously had a fantastic experience getting a children’s haircut at this salon but would now advise anyone to avoid.

Finally found the hairdresser who listens

My hair was in dire need of some TLC, style grown out and runway roots you could land a plane on. Notty listened to my ideas and ran with it adding her own creative flair. To say I’m pleased is a massive understatement. Everything was perfect from arriving and I honestly couldn’t recommend Blue and Notty especially enough ❤️

Funky and friendly salon in the middle of York. Stephen and his team offer a very high quality service without the pretentiousness of a city salon. I always feel looked after and know I’m in very capable hands, more importantly I always come out looking my best me!!!
