This was my first ever time visiting Aveda in Balham. I’ve always been intrigued by the decor and thought I’d treat myself to a blowdry after a long week at work. I arrived to my appointment a little early and was greeted by the receptionist. She took my downstairs to my seat. 15 minutes into my appointment my stylist greeted me and said sorry she was running behind, which was fine, I get these things happen. I was taken to the back wash and was disappointed to not be asked for a head massage, this is one of the best parts! I had my blow dry and my stylist was sweet but kept mentioning the fact that my hair takes forever to dry as it held a lot of water. I have super thick hair! She was running behind on another client so I feel like she was trying to rush through my hair. She didn’t brush it out properly at the end and when I went to the bathroom my hair was still damp at the roots all under neath. I didn’t mention anything at the time because I felt bad but after being in the salon for nearly 2 hours, being dealt with by a director and paying a premium price I did expect a little bit more and was a bit disappointed by my whole experience.

Booked for a split end treatment and blow dry. Delighted with the result.

Although my blow dry looked great something was not done properly as the waves were gone by the time I was home after 10 mins. Found myself with flatlish messy hair and no waves. Since I was due for an important movie award night I had to go somewhere else and get it redone. Total waste of my money and very disappointed by charging so much for this result. My hair are naturally wavy and every time I got a blow dry somewhere else stayed in place for days. This is the first time that it gets done so badly.

It was first thing and it was blissfully quiet and chilled. Everyone gave me lots of attention - I had a massage, coffees and a brilliant stylist. I absolutely adore my hair after a split end treatment and cut and blow dry. I think it’s the best ever, thank you so much.

As always I was delighted with my hair after Jessica coloured and cut it - she is lovely and always takes time & care to ensure I leave the salon looking my best!

Great consultation before colour and scattered lights and cut. I am always very apprehensive about colour services however I felt confident Emily knew what she was doing and understands about colour and techniques for my grey at the front and roots. Had the signature Aveda massage to neck and shoulders with Aveda oil of my choice - nicely relaxing. Emily is a very caring thoughtful hair professional and all the staff and stylists are unpretentious which frankly is refreshing. The other great thing at the salon is that all the staff are genuinely nice and get on with each other and that is so good! Such a comfortable atmosphere. Had a further massage to my head at the sink before Botanic mask treatment from Nor which was very relaxing again. I am happy with the results of my colour and cut. I have to mention the bathroom at EJB - the salon bathroom is so spacious and comfortable and smells beautiful with Edward James signature scented candle burning in a lantern in the spotless and spacious bathroom ( many salon bathrooms are tiny cupboard esque ) so it is a pleasure to go to the loo here as well !
This is a busy salon with very good thorough hairdressers and Wonderful atmosphere.

I was really nervous to take the step and chop loads off my hair. The team were amazing. I arrived early and they let me sit down with a drink and my book. I had a lovely relaxation massage. Harriet was super helpful in giving me the confidence to go ahead and reassured me. She did a fabulous job and I love the new hair!

I had a great blow dry with Danielle. She was really friendly and asked me what kind of final look I was after. It was my first time at the salon and i will be back. The salon has a great aesthetic and the team seem quite friendly which was so reassuring.

First time at Edward James Salon and the best salon i’ve been to in South london. Emily was very attentive and has very good cutting styling skills. She shaped my wavy lots of it fine hair and it looks beautiful and feels beautiful. A lively experience in this beautiful salon. Great customer service at front of house. Relaxing surroundings, gorgeous interior decor and ambience, music not too loud. blissful complimentary head and shoulder massage. I’m going back for colour next. I’m happy I found this salon.

I’ve been coming to the salon for a number of years ( I spend between £80 and £100 every 4 weeks so I would say I am a good and regular customer). Today for the first time, when the amount I was asked to pay what not what I was quoted on the phone, I was told putting my hair in rollers (which I have resorted to asking for as none of stylists know how to blow-dry in a way that wiil hold the curl) was going to cost £20 more. This wasn’t mentioned at the time and has never been charged. And there is nothing on the website to indicate that costs per stylist aren’t fixed and that their discretion they can raise the advertising and quoted price without asking the customer first, atrocious customer service which is a huge shame as I have always had very positive experiences with other staff. Amazing this is a manager also who clearly knows nothing about customer service.

I usually praise the saloon but this time I cannot. The stylist did her best but I had to wait sometime before she could help
I am busy and even 30 min delay disrupts my schedule. I have docs to prepare and deadlines. Everything was going on a slow motion for me
My usual stylist was not there and I asked for a stylist of the same level..
I ended up paying almost 20 £ more for hair which did not turn up at the same level. Shame I was disappointed but more for the delay than the performance
I hate complaining and it might not be anybody fault but I was not happy

I recently had my highlights done with Jessica. It was my first appointment with Jessica and she was absolutely fabulous. She took the time to understand what I was looking for and advised me as to what would work best with my hair. I’m really pleased with the blonde achieved. Thanks Jessica!

I’ve been coming to see Ed for about 7 years now. He’s the best hairdresser I’ve ever had. Gets colour and cuts hair beautifully. Worth every penny.
