Brilliant cut, every aspect of my cut is precision and I love it. I’m fussy so Kate keeps asking questions as she’s cutting my hair - which I love. Always delighted. Can’t recommend Kate and indeed Medusa highly enough.

Came in to get my hair done by Kate, gave little help as I’m useless with it but Kate managed to just somehow know what I wanted!! I love it!! Will be back soon to maintain!

Kate was so lovely and helpful during my entire visit. She talked me through everything she was doing to make sure I was happy and spent time showing me how to style my new fringe which I am so grateful for! I didn’t catch the name of the girl who greeted me and washed my hair but she was so lovely and chatty and her head massage was 10/10! To top it off, they are currently running a 50% discount for individuals working in hospitality which is such a lovely thing to do, greatly appreciated! I would not hesitate to return to Medusa as I felt so comfortable there. Thank you!

Connor gave me exactly what I asked for and gave me good styling tips for curly hair. Lovely chats at the start but less chat as the cutting started, which was very reassuring.

This was my first visit to Medusa, Bread Street and what a great experience. Symone put me at ease and was absolutely amazing. I had a full head of highlights which exceeded my expectations and my cut is exactly what I wanted. I would recommend anyone to make an appointment with Symone.

I was recommended this salon at the start of the year by a friend and she was not wrong, this place is fantastic. I’ve had three appointments now with Kate, she is absolutely brilliant at doing both cut and colour. Over the years I’ve also visited two of the other, well known, salon chains in Edinburgh (I’ll give you a clue, they both start with C), and been really disappointed with how impersonal the stylist were when delivering any service. When I visit Medusa I actually feel like someone puts a bit of thought into what they are doing. They take a look at the condition of your hair, they look at the texture and they cut a style that will fit into your routine and suit your face shape. They don’t just pick one colour number from a book, pop it on your head and hope for the best. The colour feels tailored to account for your hair natural colour/ previous hair colour that hasn’t grown out yet. Kate is the first hair dresser I’ve had that’s taken the time to explain a bit more about the science of hair- what it needs and why, rather than just tell me how important it is to use a hair mask. I would highly recommend this salon, Kate has left my hair looking and feeling better than it has done in years. You can tell that everyone who works in this salon really cares about their clients. They ask what you want instead of just telling you what they think you need. Overall, if you’re looking for a reputable salon in the Edinburgh area then forget the others and book with Medusa.

Honestly such a nice salon, symone was so kind and chatty, and dedicated to making sure they deliver exactly what the customer wants, will make sure they get it right whatever the case. Can't flaw them. Thanks so much.

My actual haircut was alright, but my stylist (I wasn’t actually told her name so I’ve chosen a random person from the list, sorry if I got the wrong person.) said she would thin it out a little with the thinning scissors. She took so much weight out of my hair that when I put it up it looks horrible now. It’s so thin when before it wasn’t even that thick. Also, I understand that businesses are struggling at the minute, however no one told me over the phone as I booked my appointment, or when I arrived at the salon, about the extra ‘COVID charge’ for the extra 15 minutes the cut would take and PPE (my haircut took the same amount of time as it did pre-COVID). This extra charge was sprung on me last minute as I went to pay, AFTER I’d had my hair cut, so how could I back out? Adding onto this the fact that student discount isn’t being given at the moment, the haircut ended up being so expensive for me when I didn’t expect this. Customers should be well informed of ‘extra charges’ well before the haircut is done so they aren’t surprised and forced to pay more that they can afford.

It is always a pleasant experience when I come here to get my hair done. Helpful and friendly staff and I leave very happy with my hair looking nice and healthy.

I admit I was nervous sharing a space with other people for the first time since lockdown but oh my goodness, the nerves disappeared as soon as I entered. I sanitised my hands and my temperature was taken. All safety bases were covered from disposable gowns to screens between seats at hair wash area. Thank you, everyone at Medusa for looking out for us all. X

Not my usual experience given the current circumstances! Lorraine was lovely and the whole staff cheerful and calm. On what turned out to be the last day of opening. The Medusa experience is always brilliant, and I’m looking forward to when it’s business as usual again.

Been going to this salon for 22 years. Highly professional, friendly, treat you like family. Lorraine has been my hairdresser for 10 of these years. She is amazing. Always does a great job. Marnie looked after me when Lorraine was on maternity leave and she also does a great job. Highly recommend?

Just W.O.W. I challenged Kate for new colouring which was in line with hot for 2020 and she absolutely pulled it out the bag. Amazing warm colours, my hair is vibrant, colourful and i look amazing. Had so many +ve comments. I used to hate being a red head as felt colours limited but Kate has shown me that there is loads you can do. Love it! Plus the cut with a concave layer was top notch too.

This was my first visit to Medusa. I found all the staff very warm, polite and helpful. The salon has a pleasant relaxing atmosphere. I was absolutely delighted with the result of my hair treatment. Marnie is a lovely person and an asset to the salon.
