At the heart of York’s most vibrant street Bishopthorpe Road sits Evolve Hairdressing, one of the city’s leading hair salons.

Established in 1994, Evolve Hairdressing York has gained a loyal customer base and a fantastic reputation for providing an exceptionally high level of service.

Our welcoming salon is relaxed yet contemporary with state of the art equipment, soft music, massage chairs and mood lighting.

Cutting edge or classic, our individual approach to unisex hairdressing is personalised to suit our individual client’s specific needs.

Evolve owner Linzi has more than 30 years’ experience within the hairdressing industry and was one of the first hairdressers in York to gain the WELLA Master Colour award, with extensive training within Wella Academies both in the UK and abroad.

Evolve use only the highest quality products including Wella and System Professional and can exclusively offer the Wella Alchemy Treatment Service - a luxury hair treatment service which matches specifically to your unique hair type to get the very best result.

Every time you visit Evolve it is like meeting up with old friends. I am a regular customer of many years now and the standard of service and the attentiveness of staff is always exemplary. On my most recent visit Holly was my stylist, a newer member of staff but yet very much a part of team Evolve and what that stands for. She asked my concerns, discussed what we were going to do, gave advice on colour, listened and made the whole experience thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you Holly. All the staff from the juniors up have the same attentive approach, nothing is too much trouble. I came out of the salon feeling great, that’s what the Evolve experience does for you. Ebony is brilliant with colour to the point I am confident to say “do what you think what will best “ which is nothing short of a miracle as I am a creature of comfort!!

Further to what I said in my review sent yesterday. I wanted to add that I think the person who did my wash through and colour treatment maybe lacked experience and so was trying too hard, and that got in the way. Fran was excellent as she always is, and I'm very happy with the Salon generally. Feel well looked after!

I have had the pleasure of having my haircut at Evolve since they very first opened.

I have had a selection of styles, and more recently colours, over the years, all expertly carried out and finished.

I have benefitted from the advice from a selection of stylists, from Linzi, to Dylan, Carla, Jo and more recently Claire. All of whom have been excellent.

I have never been disappointed with a single cut or colour and regularly recommend the salon to friends and family.

It’s a true gem of salon!

I have been coming to Evolve for 2 decades. Over the years, if I have ever tried anywhere else, I have always regretted it. It is always friendly, the owner is incredible and I have had my hair cut by Carla now for years - I have had everything from pixie, to super long, bobbed, fringe, no fringe - coloured, not coloured, my wedding hair - she gives the best hair (and life) advice, really listens and is honest with you if the picture you show her of your 'dream hair' won't actually suit you! (thank god!). She is a total perfectionist, and I know, without fail, I will leave with a 100% perfect cut. When Carla is doing your hair, you feel you have her full, undivided focus and that she really cares. The receptionists are always lovely and they have never sounded anything less than 100% cheerful on the phone - and that's since the year 2000 - so that's pretty bloody impressive! If I ever leave York, I will have to still come back to have my hair cut. If you book here, you will not regret it.
