I had a hair trauma (at another salon!) last Thursday; I went as a hair model for a very subtle balayage and left with what was essentially a root to ends bleach, bright yellow blonde hair. My 30th Birthday party is this weekend and I wanted to get my hair done as a treat, and obviously it went terribly wrong. I went to the Herne Hill M&D branch on Saturday to ask for any advice or if they could fit me in anywhere. The woman on reception was so kind and helpful, and managed to book me in at the Brixton branch for Tuesday morning. She got a stylist to speak with me about what we could do, and left a note on my booking with all the information. I was patch tested there and then. My appointment in Brixton was today; Grace was amazing, explained everything so clearly about how she was going to fix it and the limitations based on how the original bleach would affect the colour etc. It was a very peaceful appointment, everyone was lovely and Grace absolutely saved the day! She did such a brilliant, thorough job and I’ll definitely be back to see her again. Thank you to everyone in the team for your help - I was very close to cancelling my party because my hair looked so awful!

The master is lovely and the result looked good in salon lighting but far from great once you step outside. Though I asked for a natural balayage I can’t keep but reviewing the hair in the mirror and thinking how unnatural the bleach strands look. There is a huge one that stands out particularly. Grace was honestly fantastic. I’m a nervous client after years of feeling like my hair was a problem for so many stylists. Usually told by them that it’s so damaged, dry, difficult and ‘so thick’ - for context I have curly hair. Grace listened to me, washed it thoroughly and even complimented my curl pattern. I’m nearly 30 and this is the first time any stylist has said something complimentary about my hair. I’ve rebooked, this time for a cut in July and already know I’m in super safe hands :)

My stylist was very thorough with a consultation with what I wanted for my hair. She gave a lovely massage when I got my hair washed and all the products used smelled great and felt really nice.

Grace was very kind and gentle with my daughter (2) but the hair cut took about 10 minutes and really was a tiny tiny trim. Her hair was sprayed with water and not washed, which is fine, but the cost was £40 which I was SHOCKED at!

Jose was just incredible and I’m so excited to continue on my hair growth plan with him. I really liked Harriet’s approach. She was careful to ask exactly what I was looking for in colour and cut, and the colour she achieved was exactly what I was after- which hasn’t always been the case other places!
