Medusa is a great salon with a cosy and comfortable feel. The stylists and staff are so welcoming. It’s always a wonderful visit and Kylie is amazing. I come away feeling really great and with a haircut I love every time! Highly recommend.

Lovely relaxing shampoo and head massage. Cut was just what I wanted and beautifully finished.

For the past few months, I have had awful experiences with hairdressers in Edinburgh. So much so, getting a haircut was becoming a nightmare. A friend of mine recommended me Medusa a couple of days ago and today I gave it a try. I reserved through the online booking system this morning — great idea by the way — and got my hair cut couple of minutes after. Poppy did such a great job I cannot thank her enough. I’m not a native speaker and so talking about haircuts is out my comfort zone. Nonetheless, she managed to understand what I wanted and worked accordingly. I definitely recommend it and look forward to my next visit.

Kate cut my hair perfectly to what I requested, and there was absolutely no pressure to converse, but rather relax, which is knowingly an awkward possible situation in getting your hair done. That being said we had great conversation and the complimentary wine was fantastic. Would definitely recommend Kate and Medusa at Teviot Place!

I met Kylie when I got to Medusa for the first time and I would never dream of changing her: she is the best stylist I’ve ever met in my life. Her haircuts don’t require anything: I leave the shower with my hair wet and comb, voila! Don’t need to do Anything with it. She is absolutely amazing in her craft, a class of her own. Moreover, she is the nicest person to be around: kind, polite and full of discreet class. She is one of these people so pleasing and kind: when we want to chat we chat, but when we want to be quiet she is never pushy about chitchat, just so gentle and discreet. The other persons of the staff of the salon are also very kind and they all know this amazing head massage. My favourite place to go, this salon!

All my stylists at Medusa are amazing- if one is away I trust their colleagues to look after me. This was true of Kylie today, whom I saw while Fraser is away. A fellow curly hair girl, she gave me advice for new products to bring my curl back, and Fraser would have been happy with the colour. Great team- always on point.

I recently had a bit of a bad experience in another salon (went for a “trim” that ended up a lot shorter than it was supposed to be) and I really wasn’t happy with the way it looked. I made an appointment with Dion hoping to have my hair put up and out the way for a wedding. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough to put up, but Dion came up with a plan B, curled it (while listening to me moan and hum and haw) and assured me it would drop in time for the wedding and look beachy for the rest of the day. She was absolutely right and it was lovely! Thanks for your patience and for being swift and calm with an alternative.

Kati is an amazing artist! She tamed my horrible curly mane and gave me a beautiful cut. My hair is super thick and curly and Kati knew exactly how to handle it. 11/10 would recommend!

Honestly it’s not awful, i think this salon do nice cuts but I was baffled the prices. I had my hair bleached and i’ve been left with blisters all over my scalp... Having had my hair bleached for over ten years this is the first time this has ever happened. I won’t return.

Amazing as always. Kylie listens to what I’m looking for, advises me well, and does a terrific job.

The haircut I received from Poppy is great.
After discussing with her what I wanted, she gave me feedback and ultimately the style I wanted. The only negative points from my visit was that the jackets the salon uses were very loose at the neck, so I had a neck full of hair trimmings itching me when I left--despite being brushed down.
Lastly, something I generally like about going to the hair salon is the atmosphere, and the banter. I didn't get any of that on my visit. Fair enough, everyone does their job their, way, but it did seem a bit quiet--just my own personal preference.
Overall good.

I was so happy with my colour by Dion. I moved to Edinburgh a year ago and have been trying to find the right person to do my hair had hadn’t. I have an all over platinum bleach and it’s so rare for a stylist to get this just right (without the yellow and without tide marks from previous colours). Dion did it perfectly and was really lovely too. Couldn’t recommend enough (especially for blondes!)

I've been a client at Medusa Teviot Place for years, and Kate is the best stylist I've had there. She always does a great job of cutting my thick, curly hair. She is warm and friendly, I always enjoy out travel chats!

Fraser knows what I want and does an amazing job with my colour and cut. His staff are very friendly and helpful.

Initially when I emailed the Salon I got a very short non detailed response from ***** asking me to come in to talk through what I wanted. His email left little to be desired but in person he was friendly and understanding and put my mind at ease. He then booked me in with *****.
I was nervous about getting my hair dyed and I tried my best to explain what I wanted. When ***** walked away I saw her look at a female colleague and look at me and roll her eyes when she walked to get the colour downstairs - the Salon is covered in mirrors, your customers can see you.
I had asked for a balayage hair with a prominent orange streak at one side and showed ***** images of how I wanted it to look.
What I had specifically asked was that you would see my natural hair colour at the top and for it to get lighter at the ends but for the orange streak to start at the roots. I said the blonde should be warm and surfer chic.
What I got was blonde cold hair almost grey starting nearly at the roots - making it look like I had simply died my hair blonde and it had grown in. The ginger streak colour was excellent but did not start at the root. I'm not sure if I got charged for the blow dry but I was just sat under the heater and there was no styling or blow dry just left till my hair dried naturally. ***** was only excited or showed any interest when the orange streak colour was developing as I doubt she gets to use such vibrant colour that often.
Overall I was made to feel unwelcome and as though I was a nuisance to the team not a customer who was paying a lot of money for their services. I went to the Salon because they have won awards and looked as though they would understand my quirky request.
I panicked when asked if I liked my hair and said yes but in reality it's not at all what I asked for.
