Had a really unpleasant experience yesterday at Box. I have always loved having my hair cut and colour at Box. Harriett had cut my hair in March and it was perfect. Yesterday, I had the appointment with someone else for a tint to cover my grey. Admittedly, I had left it a few months as I had not had the time to get to the hairdressers, my grey roots were quite long. However, from the moment I had sat down, He started to make rude and sarcastic remarks about my grey hair making me feel disgusted at myself.
I did try to laugh it off as I couldn’t exactly walk out at the time, but inside I was feeling like rubbish. It was not just one comment, but he had made many comments throughout the appointment. I just couldn’t believe it. You should expect to feel great after the appointment and not made to feel like I did.
In my previous appointment when he had cut my hair, he had made a mistake on my fringe, when he did not listen to what I had asked for, yet I was still happy with him and had always left a tip. I have no idea why he was so nasty yesterday. Even when I was at the till, when I said goodbye, I could hear him sarcastically mumble see you in six months.
I know I was not a regular ‘every 6 weeks customer’ but I was still a customer and it should be my choice to go to the salon when I chose. I had paid for a service, and should not have been insulted like that. I wanted to make an appointment for a half head foil next, but I’m too scared to go back.
Thank Goodness there are many other good hairdressers in Basingstoke. I had previously recommended my daughter and a good friend to Box but I guess they won’t go there either now.
I did call the salon this morning to let them know how I felt, I was told that I was not the first one. Apparently, quite a few have made complaints about him. I wished I had known this before wasting my money and time!
