I feel so bad writing this review, but have just paid for a haircut that I ended up having to re-cut it myself afterwards. My issue is more with how a professional cut is "supposed" to be done rather than with the stylist. I would have gotten the same result from any of their colleagues. I’m sure that as a professional stylist, following their training and rules of a haircut, it was done perfectly right. Massive apologies to my stylist, you were so lovely, please try not to take this personally!
I generally cut my own hair but being very busy and in desperate need of a cut, I gave in and went to a professional (2nd time I've risked doing so and had to correct afterwards). The stylist was lovely, friendly, and cared about the cut matching what I described/had shown pics of at the start of the appointment. I have very long, quite thin hair, so completely trusted them to make what I was asking for work: lots of layers up to quite short lengths to give body and lots of shorter layers framing my face. They continuously asked if I was happy with the cut - Yes! In the salon it looked lovely. They even took time to demo how to style it myself at home. This all took the full appointed hour to complete so I felt it was fine, that we were out of time and it'll do.
Once I got home and had a proper look, it appeared to be 2 very obvious, blunt layers with a very small, blunt section at the front to “frame” my face. It was still too heavy with no volume, not at all what I asked for or had shown. So, I made the time and cut my hair myself that night. I cut off about half a kilo of hair and I've still managed to keep the same length, add lots of nicely blended layers. It now has lots of body, looks much thicker, and I have a lovely frame around my face. I just don't understand how/why a professional hairdresser can't do the same, their rules for a cut are just so restrictive - they need more freedom! I didn't return to the salon to get the cut fixed as it would have been a waste of everyone's time.
