I will always be so grateful to Ayten. When we first discovered her, my autistic daughter needed help. She has a pathologically demand avoidance (PDA) profile which means that every demand causes a trauma response. She has multiple panic attacks a day. The PDA along with her sensory sensitivities mean that brushing hair is difficult. But it also means she will not have it cut. As a result her hair had become really matted. I had tried for more than a month to fix this myself, and then I reached out for help. Another SEN parent recommended Ayten. She has been incredible. She has been kind and patient. There has been no judgement. She turned the music down, offered to let my daughter choose the music and made it fun. We were even a ld Uk bring our dog, as she helots to calm our daughter.. Ayten could see when my daughter was struggling and immediately stopped. My daughter had as many breaks as she needed. Was able to get up and walk around. Ayten always asked permission to start again. The detangling process took 4 appointments. These were 3-4.5 hours long each time. Ayten made these a safe space, and not once showed any sign of tiredness or frustration . After the first appointment my daughter said “this is a nice hairdressers”. The last hairdressers we had been to resulted in her having a meltdown, which was awful, we had to leave early and could never go back. Ayten and her colleagues created a space where my daughter was (and is) happy to return. My daughters hair is now finally tangle free. My daughter is currently enjoying looking after her hair again. We now plan regular appointments to wash (another miracle as she struggles with this too) dry and plait her hair, building up to a point where she feels safe enough to have a trim. Ayten and her team have created a space where my daughter feels safe and for that i will always be grateful.
