Well, being that I had removed all the nails, this wasn't really an acceptable option to me. I replied and said that and said that as I only get my nails done on special occasions, I wasn't interested in getting them redone now, but asked if I could take them up on their offer of a free nail job on a future occasion. I received no reply to this email, so six days later, I had to email again asking for a reply.

I received a brief reply apologising for my experience and advising that since I had removed the nails myself, they could not offer to fix them anymore. I was not happy with this as I felt that I had purchased and received a service that was not up to the standard expected. If I had bought a physical item in a shop that was faulty, I would return it and expect, and probably receive a full refund, no questions asked.

In my return email, I advised that I was extremely unhappy with their most recent response and that I had expected some form of compensation for having paid €55 for a set of nails that might as well have been €5 stick on nails from Penneys for the quality of them. I stated that I was making a complaint and I asked for my complaint to be escalated. Naturally I received no reply to this email.

I am not the kind of person to leave bad reviews online. I am not a person to complain about services. I was more than willing to accept that the original nail job was poorly done for whatever reason - be it a staff member who needed more training or whatever it was. I genuinely wish no badness on the technician who did my original nail job. I would have been more than happy to accept some kind of offer of compensation for this and would have been happy to return as a customer.

However, it has been my experience of making my complaint and being constantly ignored and left completely unsatisfied that has made me decide that I will never be setting foot in this salon again for any treatment. I am so disappointed at how poorly this entire complaint was handled.

Since there is a character limit, this is going to be a two part review. (Part 1)

I got gel nails done about a week before Christmas, complete with extensions. They looked amazing and I was delighted. Unfortunately, one of them fell off three days later. I rang the salon and they offered to fix it and so I went in two days later. By the time I got there, two more of the nails were lifting at the nail bed and another one had fallen off and so I told the lovely girl who was fixing the one that fell off. She kindly fixed all four nails for me and explained that the likely reason they were falling off was that the nail bed hadn't been properly prepared before application of the gel.

I left that day relatively happy and had a very good experience with the girl that fixed the nails - unfortunately I can't recall her name. At this point it was just before Christmas and I then proceeded to spend the whole of Christmas week and the following week using old nail glue I had at home to continuously restick the remaining six nails that hadn't been fixed back onto my nails. Every single one of the six remaining fell off at some point over that fortnight and I continued to stick them back on as I wanted to get some kind of wear out of a €55 gel nails job.

By the time the fortnight was over, I decided I was fed up of resticking the nails and so I pulled them all off - something that was very easy to do, and if you've had gel nails before, you know removing them is usually next to impossible. It was at this point that I decided to write a complaint to Penney's Beauty Express. I emailed outlining my experience and stating I was unhappy. By way of reply, I got an offer to fix the nails - phrased in such a way that they were doing me a favour . 'Usually we would fix them with no problem in next 48 hours. It is 3 weeks now usually after 3 weeks you would need to get your refills done. As appreciation of being our customer we can offer You to get You nails fixed free of charge'.

I had manicure and pedicure dont today at Penneys athlone. I usually get it done in another bar but got an appointment in penneys before xmas. The pedicure wasn't great to be honest, and the attention to detail while painting the nails is very bad. The end result had some nails with polish on the skins and some nails not painted fully. Also, I am not sureif I trust their sterilisation practices.

The beauty xpress is amazing!!! The amount of people that have recommended these lovely ladies!
