Disappointing Experience and Lack of Professionalism
I booked a long hair blow dry at House of Colour Clare Hall on Friday at 5pm. The website clearly showed the price as €44 for this service with each stylist, but in the salon I was informed that it was €46 and charged accordingly. This is not about the €2 difference, but about transparency, especially as the website still shows €44.
I understand that House of Colour is an above-average priced salon, and I was happy to pay more because I expected a professional, pleasant and high-quality experience. Unfortunately, what I experienced was very disappointing from start to finish.
From the beginning, the stylist’s attitude made me feel very uncomfortable. I do not know her name, but she was an older blonde lady. She came across as if she did not want to be there or do the appointment. The young assistant who started washing my hair was very kind and respectful, but then the stylist came over and took over. During the wash, my hair was pulled a lot, even though I explained that my hair is delicate and sheds easily. Apart from a few seconds of head massage, the wash felt rushed, rough and uncomfortable.
The blow dry itself was also very poor. My hair was quickly dried underneath, passed over a few times with the hairdryer, and then straightened briefly on top. For long blonde hair and at this price, I expected proper care, proper styling and a much better finish. I honestly could have done a better job myself at home.
The only positive part of the visit was the young assistant, who was kind, polite and respectful. I left shocked and upset by the overall treatment. A stylist who clearly does not want to provide this kind of service should not be doing it. I will definitely not be returning.
